Been out the game a good while so my pc's a bit old now:

8700k @4.8, MSI 2070, 16gb 3200 and 1tb nvme ssd.

Just got into Arma reforger and was expecting a bit more fps. Im getting averages of 40-45 and horrendous lows/stutters. At medium preset at 1440p

I've used ddu and installed latest drivers even done a mobo and card bios update. Gpu is flat out at 100% cpu is about 25-40%. Ram usage seems pretty solid at 10gb.

Just wondering what others are getting and if anyone has any ideas before I try a wipe?

Much appreciated.

If the GPU is at 100% then that's a great indication that the GPU is the limiting component. Try reducing the resolution to 720p and see what happens to the frame rate. If it goes way up, then yeah, you need a new GPU if you want to get a higher frame rate at the same settings.

You're probably CPU bound, 2070 is still an ok card. 8th gen intel tho? We're approaching Pentium levels of old here. 😛

Not the best idea, newest Nvidia drivers have [massive] issues currently. Try something between 500 and 566 version numbers.  (Use DDU in safe mode, even if you already did)

In your place, I would have a pro reapply new thermal paste/thermal pads to the old 2070. It can't hurt. The thermal interface is probably old and dry.

But realistically, a 2070/coffee lake CPU is old by today's standard. Playing in 1440P is demanding AF and your card in not at 1080-ti speeds. A quick google search will tell you 1080 user plays Arma reforged at low settings.
