Adding ram with different speeds

I recently opened my laptop to clean it and I noticed I have a free RAM slot to use. I have an 8gb 2400Mt/s stick from previous laptops and I thought of adding it. But my current laptop has a 16gb 3200 Mt/s in and Im not sure if the decrease in speeds is worth it

Depends on what you do with this laptop

usually I only use it for study and 1000 chrome tabs. but recently i also started playing valorant with friends on it

You can check to see what speed your (current) RAM is actually running at with various utilities, or just look up the CPU online to see what the maximum speed is that the memory controller supports. It is often less than the fastest speed of the RAM.
