Discord audio

When I try to use my laptop microphone as input and headphones as output I get no audio, in or out. The only way I can get audio is to use headset mode on both, and Discord gives the error message that using the same bluetooth device for in and out can degrade quality, which I know very well because I experience that every single time I switch to headset in anything. My friend doesn't experience this and as far as i can tell he uses a very similar setup. Any help is appreciated.

Many BT wireless headphones can't do both at the same time unless in Headset mode with reduced quality.

Are you sure your friend uses BT and not a 2.4GHz wireless?

well this is good to know because i thought bt could be 2.4 or 5, when you say that do you mean usb connection?
