--- The Issue ---

I believe this is a motherboard issue because that is the only wireless connectivity hardware I got in the PC.

For Wireless peripherals, I use the Sony Inzone True Wireless Earbuds and a Logitech Wireless Vertical Mouse. I've been noticing issues with connection with both of them: 1) Earbuds have issues with fluttering the connection, rapid disconnect and reconnect. It sounds like a microphone recording a windy environment. 2) My mouse will rise, or skip around, in sensitivity at random, short moments in time.

The way I can confirm this being an issue with my PC hardware is through 4 tests:

  1. I connected the Sony Inzone True Wireless earbuds to my phone. It works without problems for both USB-C Dongle (2.4GHz Wifi) and Bluetooth Connection to my phone.
  2. When I connect my Non-True Wireless —Bluetooth only— Earbuds (Sony WI-XB400) to my PC, it has worse issues with disconnection periods lasting words to full sentences when listening to people talking. I usually use this for exercise, working without problems when connected to my phone.
  3. The PC up time was at 18 days But I've been having this issue for months— and did a system restart. After restart, I notice the connection fluttering for my true wireless earbuds (Sony Inzone) happening but at less intensity and frequency. Nonetheless, it still happens.
  4. After I did test #3, I followed it up with connecting the Non-true wireless earbuds (Sony WI-XB400) and have had the same connection issues like I had prior to the restart.

Unfortunately, I'm not as knowledgeable on tech outside of just picking and putting parts together. Therefore, down below, you can see the questions I have related to my issue at hand and the full PC Part Picker Listing for what hardware I have currently installed.

Thank you for your time reading!

--- My Questions ----

My Motherboard: MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI ATX LGA1700

1) Has other people had issues with this motherboard or any reported cases?

2) Are the wireless problems fixable with a firmware update?

3) If not able to be fixed with an update, then what other solutions can I reasonably do in the meantime while I talk to MSI?

If there are anything I missed, please bring it up.

Again, thank you for your time!

As far as Bluetooth goes. It's kinda been a hot mess in Windows forever. That being said, Ive heard it works ok on the MS Surface tablets. So could be hardware related. What I would try is make sure your bluetooth devices have line of sight to the antennas on your WIFi adapter. I dont know what antennas comes with your motherboard, but if they are directly connected to the back of the board it could be possible that the Bluetooth signal is being blocked by a great deal due to your case. Ive seen this happen with WiFi, but keep in mind bluetooth operates at lower power compared to WiFi.

As far as non bluetooth devices are concerned. Most of those operate on 2.4 Ghz. Which is in turn used by Bluetooth and WiFi. So there could be some interference. It also comes down to how many WiFi networks are close to yours and what channels they are operating on. I would also imagine that if the receivers are also being blocked by obstructions that could also be an issue.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Thank you for the reply,

However, I do have additional information to clarify the set up of my PC. The PC sits on top of my desk, to the right of where I sit down. The behind of the case, where the receiver is plugged into, is, basically, facing towards me. Not actually facing towards me, but I have a direct line of sight for the earbuds. The only Bluetooth device I constantly use is the mouse, so maybe that is causing some interference with the wifi dongle?

Either way, I do intend to get into contact with MSI when the weekday comes around. But, in the meantime, I thought to ask here on LTT Forums. Maybe it is the Bluetooth and Wifi dongle being an issue. I live in a rather low density rural area and I use Ethernet for anything I can. The only devices connected wirelessly to my wifi or my PC is a couple of phone and Basestation 2.0s. Personally, considering the rural area, I don't think that  should  be any issue regarding interference. Tho do correct me if I'm wrong, as it is always a possibility despite low density population.

I hope this clarifies, adding more detail to the situation I'm currently dealing with.

--- Update(s) ---

Update 1

  • I've been messing around with different settings and setups for how to declutter the signal. I had a wireless gaming mouse that I used for... gaming. So I will see about swapping that out any time I play games and when I use my vertical mouse for casual use.
  • Clarification on the Logitech Vertical Mouse, it uses a wifi dongle. Now I've relocated it away from being close Sony True Wireless Inzone Earbuds dongle. It will be on a tethered further away, but still in sight for my wireless mouse.

Note: I will test this out for now and share results later.

Well the motherboard has WIFi build in, it's going to be an M.2 card. If you using a USB Bluetooth adapter Id plug that in to the front of the case just to be sure.

Also, as far as Bluetooth mouse and keyboards are concerned. Bluetooth is not a great standard for those. I have use Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with my Mac and it was tolerable at best. I could type entire sentences before they would appear on screen. That might explain the issues with the mouse.

Good luck. Even if they approve an RMA I doubt you're going to get any better results. I have use Bluetooth across two separate Windows machines and have had issues on all. The only machine that Bluetooth really worked on was my MacBook Pro. I have tried Bluetooth earbuds on my Steamdeck and it worked as well. Never had success with Windows, or at least much success. There are numerous topics on the forum of people having issues. This is the reason why most gaming headsets, mice and keyboards that are wireless use proprietary wireless standards like Logitech's light speed wireless.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

In the previous post I made on this forum, I have made an update. The logitech mouse seems to have a wireless wifi dongle, it was just hiding from me. Thus I assumed to it be Bluetooth. My bad for the misunderstanding.

With the update I made on the previous post, I have come up with some solution that, I hope, will work out. As of writing this, I don't notice any issue with audio nor the movement of my mouse. I must also add, the mouse dongle had an update requiring me to restart. However, idk if all the changes will actually work out in the long run.

For I may not know of why.

But, for now, it seems to work.
