Budget (including currency): $5,000 USD

Country: United States, California

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

  1. NextCloud Hub
  2. Minecraft Server (1 or 2)
  3. VMs (like 5)
  4. Website hosting (~5-10)
  5. Personal webmail server
  6. Matrix server
  7. Pixelfed/Mastodon server

... And more things probably down the line but for now these are the priority.

Other details: OS I'll be using is UnRaid. I'm not sure what would be the most ideal hardware for my situation. I'm open to any suggestion and ideas.

Also I have a question: hypothetically speaking, if I have a machine in America and one in Asia can I have it where I connect to the closest machine and say for example I'm connected and making changes/updating or uploading in Asia can I have those changes reflect in America and vise-versa? (essential how servers do)

Thanks in advance! 🙂

your best bet:

Build the PC and then run some variety of Virtualization software on it, and run each section of your server in a VM.

I think I rather buy, so whether a PC, Server, NAS - do u got any recommendations?

You're on the path to a great piece of kit and some good applications! But...

Give up now on hosting a mail server. you will drive yourself insane and STILL not be able to use it properly, as everyone you send to will never see your messages.
