So recently, I bought a TP-Link Archer TX3000E Wi-Fi card for my Jellyfin/NAS build. Sadly, a wired connection isn't an option since I moved it to another part of the house where its HDDs can stay noisy. However, today I ran into a weird problem.

After some time spent on good old pirating, the network on that PC started struggling a lot, RDP kept disconnecting. After a few tries, I managed to run some speed tests, where my download speed was kinda okay, but my upload speed was only about 10% of the normal rate. Meanwhile, on a wired connection, it was still at the rated 400/25 Mbps.

I also ran a few iperf3 tests, and while UDP performance was still good, with TCP, I could clearly see the issue, it sometimes dropped to 0 or well below 100 Mbps. I restarted my router (Cudy WR3600E), which temporarily solved the problem, but a few hours later, it came back.

Since the wired network still works fine, I suspect the Wi-Fi card or some kind of driver/Windows settings. Unfortunately, I forgot to check the speeds on my phone to see if the issue was specific to that PC or if the router was acting up.

Did you guys ever run into a problem like this? Or do you have any ideas on how to solve it? I'll try to replicate the issue again and test it further with other Wi-Fi devices.

Are you still seeding those Linux ISOs,  did you put upload speed limit?
Could be you are not seeing issues elsewhere on your network because your router is automagically performing QoS, so your other devices are not affected.

Ofc, I have speed limit on my linux isos 😄

QoS settings are empty on the router:

Now I could test with my phone when the speed droped on the PC with WiFi (even the RDP droped me again too), and it was maxed out, so I assueme there will be some kind of issue only with that and not router related.

Seems like some kind of driver issue maybe. In device manager I clicked restore previous driver, and it went back from the latest AX200 driver that I got from Intels page to an older one from early last year. It solved the issue inmediatly, but after a few mins of downloading, its back again. Tomorrow I'll drop a screen on that PC, and will try the latest driver from TP-Links webpage after uninstalling the current one. It's from 2023 but there might be a reason TP-Link only lists that.

Usually its just because the vendors can't be bothered to update it.
