Just an Idea, for the future, like a few years, i would like to know if you guys think it would work.

Ok so these are the supplys I would get.

 

Rasberri Pi - Already have

Micro USB cable - Already have

USB car adapter thing - Already have

USB webcam - Already have

External around 60gb or less SSD - Dont have

Small USB powered monitor- may not need, but dont have

 

Now, would it be possible to make a car dash cam with this? Just an Idea. I wouldent be doing this for a nother 2 years or so. WOuld i beable to program the pi to auto record on start up? Or would i have to have a small monitor? Would there be any problems?

I've been thinking about doing this myself for a couple of months.

You can buy camera's that connect to your raspberry pi through the flat-cable.

My main concern at the moment is how to keep everything waterproof.

I've also been thinking about getting it connected to the wifi in the garage and upload the recording to a nas device.
