...and to the terrors of coil whine.
It sucks, and most manufacturers won't even RMA the unit. Usually it isn't a failure indicator. That thing might last another 5 or even 10 years

my pc power supply does the exact same sound, I wouldn't worry too much.

Power supplies make electrical noises, based on what I didn't hear, its probably those noises.

 

Really bad coil whine is common and usually not a problem at all, and its something you can hear from across the room from power supplies or graphics cards.
