If you are on a super tight budget, using what you have on hand makes sense. I wouldnt say it would be the great with that CPU but sure is better than what I used as NAS few years back.

Welcome to the forums!
It'll be fine for a few drives, but it won't be doing any heavy lifting. Also, you're limited on PCIe lanes, only 8 lanes of gen 2 which means you're very limited on the number of drives you that can be supported. That being said, I've literally used an RPi as a NAS. Plugged 4 external drives into it and while it was insanely slow, it still worked
