Weird wifi issues?

I rarely use wifi, but yesterday I tried connecting my new ROG Strix G17 to my old and trusty Netgear router and somehow I got a connection but it was hella slow, except Google, nothing actually loaded...

Now I'm wondering why that happened,the Netgear might be old but it's always been great (I also saw windows saying it's a 144MB connection,so it should have just worked) is it possible the mediatek wifi module that's in the laptop is really this bad? 馃槀 Or what else could cause this?

You could always troubleshoot with another pc or a smartphone to test the WiFi with.

If it works great with the other device then it's probably the laptop.

I usually edit my posts.
