Honestly HDMI Arc, is something I just don't understand, so how on earth does it work? I have a PS5, Xbox series S... How the blooming heck, does it all work? As in, PS5 to TV, but then how does the audio work? I am so confused.

HDMI is bidirectional. Your TV sends audio data back out of the ARC port to whatever device is plugged into it (usually a sound bar or receiver), no matter which source is selected.

HDMI will give you the best sound quality because it's a digital signal with plenty of bandwidth.

S/PDIF (optical or coax) is also a digital signal, but it has significantly less bandwidth to work with. Surround sound usually has ot be compressed with that.

The 3.5mm jack (if your TV has one) is just analog stereo. Analog audio is more susceptible to outside interference (noise) than digital audio.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

LG C4, which has a 3.5mm ouptut (currently using with monitor speakers), optical output, and HDMI arc (which I dont understand).

Which would, or might, provide the better audio though?

HDMI (e/ARC) is good for soundbars and home theater receivers. This is the highest quality if we're talking about full uncompressed Dolby Atmos/surround sound, etc.

Optical out would also be used for soundbars and receivers, but there are also speakers that have an optical input. This is still capable of surround sound, but compressed.

3.5mm output would be the worst one because the quality of the audio chips would be one of the last things the TV manufacturer would care about.

So if I connect HDMI Arc, but want external speakers to be used, via 3.5mm output, do those things work together? Because, all I got were the TV speakers, which are actually unusable.

Turns out then, I need a soundbar. I really didn't want one, because they are unwieldy, and often just utter rubbish, but it seems as if that would be best for my setup and budget.

The soundbar has to be HDMI 2.1, for PS5 and xbox, so any recommendations please, would be very welcome.

Even if I can't afford it right now, I can wait until I can.

You don't even know what HDMI ARC is, so don't talk about soundbars like you understand them.

Why? The LG C4 has 4 HDMI inputs. Connect the PS5 and Xbox to the TV.

It finally makes sense to me! Thanks for that, I know it's not easy guiding someone through something that they don't understand, so I appreciate your patience, and knowledge.

Also, I am definitely buying a sounbar type setup, it clearly just makes sense for my needs.

In the future, I'll perhaps explore more elaborate setups, but I just want it to sound good, now! 🫠

Wow, that was a bit rude... And also, where did that even come from? Do you make Soundbars?

I mean...  I don't have to make sound bars to realize the statements you've been making are off.

You're using 3.5mm computer speakers and saying that Soundbars sound bad?  LOLWHAT?!?!?!

In comparison, a halfway decent soundbar will sound much better than nearly any 3.5mm computer speakers.

Are you okay dude? Because you are acting unhinged!

All I've done is ask for advice, and have also been appreciative of the help.

Then you lose your mind, about one simple sentence? What is wrong with you?

so in the end you made the same thread and came to the same conclusion in 4 days over there when you already arrived at the same answer here within 1 hour.

You were given grief here, or "toxicity" because of your totally uncalled for bashing of soundbars. You want to dish out a disgusting attitude, you will receive it too.

This is such an over reaction. He has a misconception and an opinion about a piece of tech. You're dropping ad hominem attacks. Guess which one is worse?
