Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Counter strike, Fortnite

Hello, im looking to upgrade my pc to improve performance, Mainly in Fortnite and cs2.
I currently have a ryzen 5 2600.
Asrock b450m steel legend.
16gb 3000mhz corsair vengeance.
XFX RX 5600 XT thicc ii.

i was thinking of upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600x and upgrade my mobo bios as its currently on P2.90. Currently i deal with quite a bit of micro stutters and would like to be able to play the games more smooth opening the window to 240hz and higher.
I've heard ryzen 5000 benefits from faster ram. if so could you recommend some? im open to all recommendations within the budget.

Thanks 🙂

Update your BIOS and reinstall the latest AMD chipset drivers. That will help quite a bit.

Then you can upgrade to a Ryzen 5600 or 5700X.

Then a GPU upgrade.

5600X is a great upgrade for your usecase and is relatively inexpensive.

I used to have a 2700X, a CPU faster than yours with that exact GPU but THICC III and in games it held me back. I upgraded the CPU and saw nearly double the increase in FPS in games like Apex Legends.

At the low end, get a 5600. At the high end snipe a 5700X3D whilst they last. 5700X is also an option. Ignore the 5800X unless same price or cheaper than the 5700X.

MAIN: Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Kraken X62 Rev 2 - STRIX X470-I - 3600MHz 32GB Kingston Fury - 250GB 970 Evo boot - 2x 500GB 860 Evo - 1TB P3 - 4TB HDD - RX6800 - Antec HCG Platinum - Manta - Silent Wings Pro 4's enjoyer

SetupZowie XL2740 27.0" 240hz - Roccat Burt Pro OG Corsair K70 browns - PC38X - Mackie CR5X's Mackie CR8S-XBT

HTPC: Ryzen 7 2700X - BeQuiet! Shadow Rock 3 - STRIX X570-F - 3200MHz 32GB Corsair Dominator - 250GB Exceria boot - 500GB SN730 - 1TB Sandisk 3D - 4TB HDD - Limited Edition Vega 64 - Corsair RM750x 80+ Gold - North - Alphacool Apex Stealth Metal - BeQuiet! Light Wings
