No Problem.   The 7600x is no 9800X3D but its still damn good CPU!

Check out this 12 game average at 1080p ( To stress CPU  more ) with an RTX 3090 TI by Hardware Unboxed.

You can see how well the 7600x does compared to older CPU's..  It beats out the 10600k very comfortably and this is faster than the 9600k.

Getting the 7600x and upgrade your 2070 Super to a 4070 will give you the best framerate in my opinion.  Overall a balanced build.

And a safer PSU with that MSI unit, 10 year warranty on that 🙂

Budget (including currency): preferably less than 1200€

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (Marvel Rivals, Fortnite, Black Ops 6)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I'm upgrading from the following specs:

- Intel Core i5-9600k

- be quiet! Dark Rock 2

- MSI Mag Z390 Tomahawk

- Corsaire Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 3600Mhz

- ASUS ROG RTX 2070 Super

- 1TB Crucial P3 Plus

- 1TB Samsung 970 Evo

- Noname 650W 80 Plus Platinum Power Supply

I'm playing on the ROG Swift PG278QR (1440p, 165hz)

I'm planning to keep the CPU Cooler, the GPU, and the 2 SSD's. I also have 4 120mm NZXT RGB Fans left over.

Attached you will find the list of parts I put together for my upgrade.

Thanks in advance, have a nice day 🙂

This is a great upgrade.  The 9800X3D absolutely demolishes the 9600k...

it IS an expensive upgrade just for a CPU though.

I would personally go with 6000Mhz CL30 as anything higher than this would be difficult to run on AM5. And if you got 7600Mhz to run it wouldn't improve gaming performance.  Hardware Unboxed tested this out.

48GB is also quite overkill still and 32GB would be plenty.

I am a bit sketched out by that 'no name 650w'... Please tell us what it is.

Are you planning on upgrading that 2070 Super at some point?

Ok maybe I was kind of wrong with the no name PSU. It's a Cougar STX 650W 230V EU Standard. I had it installed in my PC for now like maybe 10 years and didn't have any problems. I also attached a picture of it. I didn't know that AM5 had trouble running 7600Mhz RAM, thanks for the info. I will settle for a 6000Mhz 32GB kit.

I do not want to upgrade my 2070 anytime soon, as graphics cards are expensive at the moment.

Do you have any recommendations on a 32GB 6000Mhz kit (preferably RGB)?

I would highly recommend changing out that PSU.  Its old as you say and its actually on the Tier:E AVOID on the PSU tierlist.

It might be fine since its worked this long but I can't recommend upgrading to such expensive hardware with this PSU. This is entirely on you if you chose to continue using this unit.

AM5 really doesn't like anything above 6000Mhz for stability and there is no gain in gaming performance going above this.

I would actually recommend a Ryzen 7600x and a PSU / GPU upgrade for around 1300 bucks.

Maybe something like this.

If you still want to go with that 9800X3D upgrade then please spend some budget on the PSU.

Any 6000Mhz CL30 kit will do 🙂  Corsair and G.Skill got some new RGB RAM.
