Hey guys, I recently discovered that my RAM was running at 2400MHz (or somewhere around there), even though I have 2x16GB 3200MHz HyperX RAM. I searched on YouTube and enabled XMP Profile 1. I have an Gigabyte X570 UD motherboard, and I want to ask if enabling XMP can damage my RAM, motherboard, or cause any harm to my PC.

My specs: R5 5600X, 7800XT, 2x16GB 3200MHz HyperX RAM, old SSD (Patriot Burst). Gigabyte x570 ud

not at 3200mt/s, absurdly high ddr5 frequencies can cause instabilities on ryzen 7/9000 tho

Never heard of XMP or EXPO profiles causing harm or damage to a PC.

A system can crash if its not stable with the XMP profile as this is technically an overclock of the RAM.

3200Mhz is not an absurd speed so having instability or crashes at this speed is not very common.

Its safe to use XMP profiles 🙂

XMP profiles are specifically designed and tested not to hurt anything. You get into trouble if you start doing insane stuff like running your DDR4 at 1.75V 24/7 to try and keep it at ludicrous speeds, modding your BIOS to get access to higher voltages and speeds, that kind of thing.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
