60 series upgraded to 60 series? yeesh..

immediately, you could look for AMD counterpart, that's approx only 30$ more expensive:

This is what I could find, and I tried as many cards on pcpartpicker as possible:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/btsKKq

You can look yourself manually here:

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#sort=price&X=0,79364&c=424,506,492,507,516,505,493,520,553,550,565,549,566,542,567,539,590,589,588,587,501,523,495,496,498,524,558,559,560,547,548

  • The next meaningful performance uplift, starts at around ~600$ with 6950 XT, at least as long as it's price stays there - might even be a scam because it's Amazon, I have never seen 6950 XT priced so low, that card usually retails around approx 900-1000$ on average

I'd wait for the newer cards in March, there might be something suitable for that budget.

For 500 right now though, I'd expect at least a 7800 XT or a 4070. 4060 would be way under the budget.

And this, if the 7800 XT, maybe 4070 drops in price,

or if the 5070 is any decent price wise, and doesn't get snatched instantly, leaving it price inflated.

From my list, you could snatch one of the PSUs, I believe the first one's on discount right now.

Looking for some advise on an upgrade for my cousin's rig.

Current specs

12600k

Asus Z790-A D4

3200 DDR4 - 32gb

GTX 1660

1080p gaming ( maybe 4k @ 60hz for some games at some point, but not right now )

He's got a budget of around 500ish for the card itself. He will be upgrading his PSU as well. Total budget about 600.

What would you all recommend he upgrade to? I was leaning towards the 4060, but I'm not certain if he'd be better going into the AMD route for more VRAM at that price point?

Any and all suggestions appreciated 🙂 Card will be sourced from Amazon.

Alright, so ran this all by him. Seems he was being a little more generous with what he wanted to budget out. He's going to pick up one of the 6750xts at that price in your filter.

Thanks for the help here. 🙂

not gonna wait for RTX announce? I think they're supposed to "release" in February, but didn't check because I don't check that close

I tried to explain waiting a little bit longer might be beneficial to his overall bang for his buck, but he is ever the stubborn one.

Patience is not one of his virtues. LOL

It's up to him, he can really save some $ with the AMD card.

The 6750 XT/6700 XT are very good price/performance cards most of the time.

Also:

He could consider 7700 XT, if he's looking to buy ASAP.

I guess if it's 600$, it might be over budget. (the 5070)
