What’s wrong?

Go to solution Solved by IkeaGnome,

You forgot to plug your front panel connectors in.

The case isn't going to make that computer do anything.

Don't know what motherboard you have, so we can't look up the manual to show you how.

So I’ve just built my new pc (don’t have the GPU yet, but my cpu has an iGPU so I was planning to turn it on and install drivers and bios updates and what have you), but it’s not turning on. I’ve checked and reseated the front panel headers, atx 24 pin, checked the EPS 8 pin and the sata power and data cable (though that won’t restrict it from turning on) and I’ve checked the ram is seated correctly

also, my PSU makes a buzzing sound after I plug it in and turn on the switch (not the power button, when I press that it does nothing) and that shows me that, if anything’s broken, it’s not the PSU. All new parts. I will try reseating the CPU and get back to you but i am certain its nothing to do with the PSU or its cables.

any input is appreciated 🙏🙏🙏

Have you tried to jump the front panel connector with a screw driver?

Jumping the front panel connectors with a screwdriver varies with motherboard? If so how?

They're mostly standard, but you still get a few oddballs here and there. It's best to know 100% for sure before you tell someone to reach in and start shorting things.

They literally covered up the silkscreen telling you which pins go where. SMH

the funny thing is I had even see it before when I got the motherboard only two days ago and reminded myself not to do it again (I’d asked about the same thing like 2 years or a year back) and I made exactly the same mistake

My mum likes a white case (in my house it definitely looks better) and a white matx mobo alternative like the ice AORUS was £30 more and gave no extra features (I also like MSI more than gigabyte, mostly because I’ve just had their products before and I know they’re mostly good). The cooler you see (PS120SE) I already had and while a white one might look better, I don’t think it looks as bad as an all black one (the rgb helps)

Thanks, what if the handle of the screwdriver is metal/conductive? Would there be danger of a shock? I have one that has a non conductive handle tho

That one's pretty expensive, unless it was cheapest when you were buying it? Or is it the pitch black look you wanted?

I can understand that, white interior, white case, the innards don't have to be shown through glass either.

With the features that I want and good vrm temps

in the uk am5 mobos aren’t amazingly priced. Only real alternative is the b650m gaming plus WiFi but it was £160 when I was buying parts and it has no advantage over the b650m-a wifi

cheaper ones with wifi include the dh3p ax which doesn’t have great vrms and a prime mobo

Thanks, what if the handle of the screwdriver is metal/conductive? Would there be danger of a shock? I have one that has a non conductive handle tho
