Hello everyone. This is a duplicate thread, originally under PSU section. Seems like PSU section does not get much traffic. Just wat more opinions, no offence to anyone!

I built my first rig after discussing, taking advice and learning a lot, from here, so when the time came for finally upgrading it, about 5 years later, I couldn't help but turn back to my trusty ol LTT forum.

So my current specs are as below:

CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G OC'ed 3.9GHz

iGPU: Vega 8 OC'ed 1300MHz

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8x2GB 3000MHz

Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus B450M

PSU: Corsair CX450W

Storage: 250GB + 500GB BX500, 1TB WD Blue.

Monitor: LG 24MK600M 75Hz Freesync

As you can see, the build is nothing daring, just good ol trusty components that have served me satisfactorily since the PC's conception. Now, I've started to take interest in new games and some light video editing work as I got my hands on DJI action cameras, and the iGPU isn't cutting it.

Finally, what I need your help with:

I'm eyeing the Radeon 7600 8GB GPU as I'm tight on budget (as always) and don't plan on upgrading to 1440P / 4k anytime in the forseeable future. After some preliminary research, it seems the best bet for high 1080P gaming along with okayish productivity performance, especially considering the price, ₹22500 (~$260) compared to RTX4060 which costs from around ₹26000-₹30000 (~$300 - $350).

The older RX6600 costs around ₹20000 ($230).

I know my poor 2200G will cause bottleneck, but for now, the lack of a GPU is my main issue.

I want to go for RX7600 as it's newer and does give about 30% more performance than RX6600. Nvidia is just costly in India. But, RX7600 will mostly require a new PSU right? As minimum recommended is 550W, whereas RX6600 will mostly run on my current PSU.

Do you guys recommend going for RX7600 over RX6600? If so, what PSU should I go for? I bought the CX450 keeping in mind that I'll add a GPU down the line, but here we are. Also, I'm really stretching my budget for the 7600, but don't want to cheap out on PSU, especially since I had wonderful experience with Corsair..

Pls do give your thoughts, advises on this.

Thank you.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but if upgrading your PSU is too expensive, and the 4060 is just $40 more, I would get it instead of the 7600, because it's better in basically every way, including a useable upscaler

The cheapest RTX 4060 I can find is about $310. Also, it will require a new PSU as the minimum recommended is 450W..
I'm sorry, but I dont understand your point O_o

It really won't need a new PSU, just do the math yourself. The GPU uses 115W, your CPU literally uses like 30W (idk how much with OC), and the rest of the components will use less than 50W total too, that's less than half of what the PSU can handle. My point is that the 4060 is worth the extra money over the 7600. You could even run it with a 6700xt if you find it used for a good price, still only around 300W power draw total

But you have 450W PSU and not so much powerful CPU, it's gonna run 4060 fine,

the RX 7600 also seems to only really need minimum of 450W

Honestly, if RX 7600 is cheaper, it is almost as efficient as 4060, RX 7600 will work too

Spend within your means

Stretching the budget is preferable to obliterating the budget

Oh is that so. Last I checked with a synthetic load on both iGPU and CPU, the usage was about 75W on the package. I guess only cpu would be around 40W...
as for the GPU, if I can upgrade without buying a new PSU, I'd definetely go for that lol. Nvidia is generally costlier here in India, maybe most people dont even know about AMD as a brand (Trust me, I've had friends who didn't even know AMD made GPUs).

This is the cheapest 4060 I can find:
https://www.amazon.in/Zotac-Gaming-GeForce-128bit-Express/dp/B0C9YMVX2C/ref=asc_df_B0C9YMVX2C/?tag=googleshopdes-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=709855510284&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7560706330165143763&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9197306&hvtargid=pla-2245379871789&psc=1&mcid=137dad24a68c339e8cb9c22a61625135&gad_source=1

And this is the 7600 I'm eyeing:

And the cheapest 6600:

https://www.amazon.in/Sapphire-Pulse-Radeon-Graphic-RDNATM/dp/B09G3F8PM7/ref=sr_1_13?crid=2K43G1HLYUTWH&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.FLlEYChUfGAu9_aU0wR8tYyr7OYeiyH903bfoIbr7c8rmowFEyR8B9l7ZTKugyXAm7QHC6POOlvom7d1xONOq_hNUHKhf6eQb_bQbhXMUpM48JazJJEQtJEwfp13-JeLJTTlTVgw0SyL_-xHlX_vnbKH3SWnErqkLUVFvvBltHsWIChRV2XZ-fdkqvZyT__Cnei75qi2CJeUwzXKJkSWcjJkJ2xlZ6RkBlbIZ3BQFsr1C1UivZvRuNlVLyYs9mDfEEuYGYzzmogqYzctd7D0JREnRFeFIVICaPxLKimndLVfCCI7MucsC7o6NWeRkEqPX0yAOOaKOBE4X-uTM6WbjMFWt7URgMOuyNgqgWBchV8.gPtreJpfyQQI4dzDbkxde3NqEFv_vaJcNq8cjxwQkFs&dib_tag=se&keywords=rx+6600&qid=1737227065&s=computers&sprefix=rx+6600%2Ccomputers%2C233&sr=1-13

INR 2000 ~ $25 might not seem much, but its a lot here... Stretching for 7600 because its newer architechture and gives about 30% more performance. I believe it performs about the same as 4060 no? I dont care about ray tracing.. Trust me, I've played for 4yrs on lowest settings..

Are these cards okay? We have a lot less options here..

I don't care about ray tracing either, but you should care about DLSS, as it will improve your performance a lot at a minimal quality cost. Check if you can find a used 6700xt for a good price

I honestly really dont want to get into used market here in India. A lot of scams anyways and the popular sites I found have GPUs with no box, no bill, 1 month or so of warranty. Dont want to risk it.
