Thanks to some unexpected recent expenses, I wont be able to spend nearly as much as I wanted to spend on my first build. So I was wondering if you could help me out plan a cheap build in the 500 dollar range that is easily upgradable, so a cpu that will run games at a high frame rate but low settings, that is preferably on an 1150 socket, and a cheap temporary power supply, etc. The only things I'd like to be able to carry over when I upgrade, are mother board, case and ram. Thanks!!

This is a good setup, nice clean black case, and the 750 ti is new and sweet. Have fun with whatever you get. :) Also I'm guessing you live in the U.S.

EDIT: Added a CPU Cooler

did nobody noticed he wanted LGA 1150 which is intel. but yeah I would go AMD with that Budget considering That you would have to go with an I3 CPU which aren't very good also why are you guys reccomending single channel kits? he wants the PC for gaming. Dual channel always performs better when gaming

This is more of a ready to use build. The mobo is locked so you'll only be able to use stuff like Xeons and non-K i5's and i7's in the future.

CPU:  Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($117.00 @ Newegg)
Motherboard:  MSI H87M-E35 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($65.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Case:  Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($39.99 @ NCIX US)

Total: $509.37

Weaker GPU, but a mobo that will definitely allow you to OC with a i7-4770k or i5-4670k along with access to Broadwell. Still, the money spent on the i3 makes me feel iffy.
CPU:  Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($117.00 @ Newegg)
Motherboard:  ASRock Z97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($118.91 @ Newegg)

Basically a weak CPU and GPU with a mobo for a quick upgrade.
Motherboard:  ASRock Z97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($118.91 @ Newegg)
Memory:  Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg)

This is a GPU-less build where you're going to have to wait a bit and save for a GPU.
CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($228.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard:  ASRock Z97 PRO3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Memory:  Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg)

Case:  Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($39.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply:  XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($26.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $515.38
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Same thing, but with a Xeon and locked mobo - that means you can't OC and Xeons can't OC anyway so it's not going to be a big deal. The good thing is you get a i7 for less. Also, note that Xeons don't have an integrated GPU so you won't be able to game much.
CPU:  Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($249.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard:  ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($87.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory:  Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($54.43 @ OutletPC)
Case:  Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($39.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply:  XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($26.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $524.36

@Heisenburger - This is a pretty good build, and you could do some mild gaming on it, since Intel HD 4600 IS more powerful than my Radeon Moblity HD 4650...

Then i'd save money and go with 780/290 :D
