Heisenburger

Accidentally left my laptop on all night, with my closed lid setting as "do nothing" and this morning the bios wont detect any bootable devices. I'm thinking of just putting the m.2 drive from my laptop on a friend's desktop that has an m.2 slot to see whether the drive is detected on there. Would this work just to see if the drive is not dead? and is there anything in specific I should do or avoid doing so that I dont mess up the drive in case it isn't dead. Thanks!

Considering that the k501 just seems like a better laptop in terms of price, performance and upgrade-ability, while being $400 cheaper, I was wondering in what kind of scenarios would the zenbook be better, and what would you guys choose for your own needs.

I'm sure we've all seen pictures on twitter of reviewers with their 1080s, but I was wondering if they also already have 1070s. I personally won't have the money for the 1080, and would like to sell my 960 before it devalues in price too much, so I want to get a 1070 close to launch, and having reviews a week early would make me a little more sure about my decision.

A friend asked me to upgrade his hp pavillion which has an ms 7778 motherboard, I looked up the specs (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03343058) and it states that it only supports APUs, I was wondering if this was set in stone, and wouldn't support something like an athlon x4 860k. A couple years back my dad bought a pavilion case to replace our old one, and while cleaning the garage I found it again, while pillaging through it, I found that it had ralink rt5390 wireless card, I haven't been able to find any specific specs on line, and was wondering if any of you were familiar with it, and if you knew if it included bluetooth, since i've been looking for one for my desktop. Also, do any of you know some Mini PCI e to PCI e adapters that are reliable? Thank you.

With Dark Souls 3 right around the corner, I've been looking around for a game pad that I can use for PC gaming. My only kind of standards are that it works well and doesn't feel like a cheap toy. Regarding MS controllers, is the Xbox one controller worth the price over the X360 controller, also are third party wireless dongles good enough. What would you guys recommend, and what are your personal opinions?

My dad want's me to upgrade the family computer, they currently have a amd fx-6300, with some shitty asus micro atx motherboard, my little brothers game on it, and he programs on it, and he wanted to upgrade to something that had 6gb/s sata ports, and usb 3.0 connectors for the case. He wanted me to look into an intel cpu, and get a new motherboard, but I've been thinking that getting something like this would probably be enough (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130790). With the new amd cpus coming out later in the year, and there being better option than the fx-6300 out there, do you guys think that it is worth upgrading just the motherboard, or should I just get my dad to wait, and upgrade both the cpu and mobo?

Hello, two years ago my dad and I built our first computer, and we made some pretty shitty decisions due to our economical situation at the time, and lack of experience. We ended up with an amd FX-6300, which has been great so for, but we kind of cheaped out on the mobo, and got this. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131942&_ga=1.249932486.1580728868.1410895121 . Now that my dad has a better job, he wanted me to sell the mobo and cpu, and get an intel cpu, and a decent motherboard that won't bottleneck his ssd, and will actually allow him to use the usb 3.0 ports in his front panel. He will probably use the computer just to program in, but also wants my little brothers to be able to game on it. So my question is if you guys could recommend some cpu & motherboard pairs for a bunch of different price ranges, like $300 to $600. Also how much should I expect to be able to get from the fx-6300 and motherboard my dad wants to sell? Thank you! PS: I forgot to mention that he will probably want to stick with a DDR3 compatible cpu.
