I'm playing witcher 2 and it's really engaging, story and combat wise, though my friend tells me that The Witcher 1's combat isn't nearly as polished as the second's.

It is just click, wait click....  OH!!!  and you have to click the right sword depending on who you are fighting.  So you are saying you didn't play one and you get 2?

You could read the story if you don't enjoy the game play. Witcher 1 is completely different then Witcher 2 as far as mechanics go, but I highly suggest learning to adapt and finish it.

Keep in mind that your suppose to import your save from the first game, so you will be missing out on some of those choices.

It's mainly that the story is very boring, I can deal with the gameplay.

It's enough, but you won't have personal experience with it and your choices won't affect things in The Witcher 2. Still, it's not like playing Metal Gear Solid 4 and wondering what the hell is going on.

How much does importing your save change things?

Different dialogue and equipment that I think sort of breaks the game. From the The Witcher wiki: "Saved game import". It's not as big as say, Mass Effect's save imports where you can lose or gain party members, but more like Dragon Age to Dragon Age 2 where you get different dialogue, messages, etc.

Wait, so you are saying it breaks the game (I know not literally) to import my save and you wouldn't even I did finish the first game?  I don't care very much about some different dialogue.  Especially since I won't have made those choices so I won't notice them not effecting the game.

I meant breaking as in having powerful gear early on and basically making the game a bit too easy.

Oh, well that's never good :).  So overall you wouldn't recommend it?

Save importing? Well, I never played the game - my (real) PC can't even handle Morrowind without lagging on the lowest settings -, but people did say that the weapons and armor you get defeats the purpose of Geralt getting jailed and telling a story where he begins anew or something. There's a part early on, I think, where Geralt loses his swords, but since you get "extra" stuff from the save import, you can just use them without consequences. I think it's something where you should do it to get a "different" story and will yourself from using the gear which I think are late/end-game gear from the first game and sort of becomes mid to late game gear in the second. That or a second or multiple playthrough.

OK, thanks I def won;t finish the first game.  But abacuses blow 4960Xs out of the water, you should be able to play Crysis on Ultra just with iGPU...

Not when those hamsters keep dying. HEY! GET BACK TO WORK FRED! YA AIN'T GITTIN' ANY DINNA TELL YA RUN FOUR MORE YEARS! Damn, hamsters. They don' work like guinea pigs and gerbils always git their freaking tails caught somewhere. Mice, oh dear Linus are they picky and pretentious slackers. Them hares also have issues; sometimes they're high as heaven and others as low as the dirt they live in. And don't get me on Capybaras.
