Can someone explain to be the difference between GPU temp versus hotspot temp? I recently noticed my GPU hot spot temp exceed the preset GPU thermal limit and wondered if that mattered. I also wondered if I should raise my thermal limit to a higher temperature and if that would let me get more performance out of my GPU.

The GPU hotspot temperature refers to the maximum temperature reading from any of the many sensors located throughout your graphics card.

GPU Hotspots can be and usually are around 15c-20c higher than normal junction temperature.

Overall though, you temperatures are great and you have nothing to worry about.

You are not going to gain much performance from raising the thermal limit, maybe a few Mhz.

I overclocked my RTX 4080 from 2775Mhz to 3050Mhz and I gained around 5-6fps on average.

This is with +1700Mhz on the memory as well.

What is 250 vs 255 fps 😛

Recently, I noticed the hotspot temp now peaks out at 98c even though I did not change anything on my PC. This seems to have happened since the driver update from the 50 series release. The only difference in game settings is changing DLSS from CNN to transformer. Do you know what could be causing this? Could it be the new Nvidia drivers or transformer models? 98c is a bit concerning...
