Upgrade Path...

Go to solution Solved by OddOod,

Stack cash and buy 50 series used in a year or so. That 3600x is still pretty great for 1440/4k and it's not really worth it to bump ram speed to 3600 as 3200 is still fine.

Hey all, thanks for stopping by.

I have a simple question, what should my path be for upgrading?

I have a RTX 3070, a Ryzen 5 3600x, b450 tomahawk MSI, and 32gb DDR 4 of ram. (Not sure if my tag still shows my rig)

Money is tight, and I can't upgrade any piece for a month or so. The RTX 50 series just got announced, and I do want to play GTA 6 when it drops. My preferred resolution is 1440p, and I don't mind lowering some settings for high FPS. Should my focus be on CPU/MOBO? Thanks for your time 🙂

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3070 RAM: 32GB 3200mHz Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Display: Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz 27" (2560p x 1440p) NVIDIA G-SYNC IPS MOBO: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK STORAGE: 120GB SSD boot drive, 10tb USB 3.0 Seagate game drive PSU: 650w Corsair CX CASE: NZXT H500i

GTA 6 probably won't even come out on PC until late 2026 at the earliest.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
