Hi forum, I recently upgraded my CPU from a 5600g to 5700x3d on a Asrock B550 Phantom ITX board. The computer refuses to post, lights turn on, fans spin, but no output to monitors. It works like normal putting the old cpu back in, Ive updated the bios to both the validated and most recent version, tried different ram configurations, as well as reset CMOS. Ive tried pressing del, f2, y, nothing works. Ive also tried using a 3060, and running PCIE at gen 3 instead of 4, as well as running without the m.2 ssd in it. Putting the 5700x3d into a different computer works fine as well. I also have my video outputs plugged into my 3070 not the motherboard. Any tips?

Specs:

5600g-->5700x3d

Asrock b550 Phantom ITX

Crucial 32gb 3200 (16x2) Ive tried 1 stick in each slot as well as 8gb in each slot

RTX 3070 (HP OEM) / 3060

Samsung 980 pro 1tb

EVGA 750W

When resetting the cmos did you UNPLUG the pc from the wall and leave the battery out for a couple minutes?

Hi, yes i unplugged everything and turned off the psu before resetting the cmos, and ive let it sit like this for at least 10 minutes

You've done very well for troubleshooting at this point 🙂

Since you know the 5700x3D is working in another computer and that your computer runs without issue with the 5600G, there is certainly something that makes the 5700x3D bad for your computer.

From experience, this can only be caused by the BIOS. I know you already upgraded the BIOS and clearly the CMOS but it is possible that the BIOS flash was faulty one way or another.

My advice is to download the latest stable BIOS to another USB drive formatted FAT32 and try again. Please look carefully at the BIOS flash led to see if it indicates a BIOS flash successful or unsuccessful. Then clear the CMOS and try booting with the 5700x3D.

If this doesn't work, try doing troubleshooting again. There should be some test that was overlooked.

Good luck !

Thank you🥲, but ive already tried 3.47(the latest beta), 3.40 (the newest stable), and 3.30 (listed as the only one validated by asrock for the cpu) and done all the troubleshooting steps for all 3. Every time I put the old cpu in it works perfectly, and the new one in the other system also works. Ive tried swapping ram and gpu between the 2, and still nothing either. It really seems like this specific combination is just doomed for some reason.

Well, it seems that you are left with contacting ASRock support.

Sometimes, there is no fix and the manufacturer is the one who needs to chip in.

Good luck !

Have you resolved the issue? I'm experiencing the same problem. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share how you fixed it.
