Since the breakdown of my Insprion 3511 and the Thinkpad T14S (type 20UJ) I have decided that I am finally tired of the Dell/Hp OEM nonsense, and the Hinge Problem and the plastic chassis, and the constant decline of Lenovo owned products (such as the T14S). Lenovo is practically milking the Think branding for money at this point.

But this thread isn't for any of that. Because here is the Framework 16.

[insert pictures here]

My desk is a huge mess. I am scheduling a cleanup and will be posting pictures in the next few days.

My purchase spec is a Ryzen 7840HS, 2 USB-C, 4 USB-A, a SD and a Ethernet, British english (backlit) and a numpad; black bezels and expansion bay shell. Without the charger, and it runs me $1546.

My daily spec is 2 USB-C, 3 USB-A, and a SD card. 32GB of 6400MHz (running at 5600) DDR5 from Crucial, and 512GB of SN 530 and Samsung PM 971a (or 991a idk).

I think it is a great product, of its own class. Massive brilliant screen, huge connectivity (consider it's practically the only laptop that can have multiple type-As), and market-price RAM and SSD. The memy "numpad on the left" is just a bonus.

However, there are a couple issues.

Notable ones include the ""i" key Incident", the "Uneven CPU Thermals", and the "chassis bending".

Framework team is apparently working on the uneven CPU thermals, but I have yet to hear from them about the chassis bending issue. I haven't taken much action for the i key and the chassis bending. Maybe I will do that at some point.

But I wonder if anyone else have any sort of problems related to this. It can't just be me, right? I don't even type that heavy. And if, as someone that had invested in this, Linus have anything to add.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I experienced the "Uneven CPU Thermals". It seem to be much more common then anyone is talking about and if you don't look at your thermals you tend not to notice (like me). I was using a cooling pad so it was masking the problem more. I also have large panel gaps/bended up corners but i just live with those.

While I also love what frame work is doing and am committed my self i wont be recommending my normie friends to get one just yet. I have always been some one who rides the edge of jank and getting more features for it is always a plus. Just wish it did not have to be that way. While I love the modular keyboard and top surface it adds a lot complexity.

Going through the RMA process for the motherboard cpu thermals right now will update once I hear back.

Were you going to post pictures?
