Budget (including currency): within myr 2000 *if possible (450usd), the lower the better😌

Country: Malaysia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: planning for simple online home theater system, or use as video editing (davinci resolve) and gaming pc (forza horizon, red dead 2, battlefield 2042 and some non 3a multiplayer games)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): motherboard (msi H81M-E33), mechanical hard drive (unknown storage volume and brand), generic psu (maybe), planning to play in 2k@165hz, or 4k@144hz, FHD@165hz also ok

juz found some old office pc at my office today, but i only saw one of those spec. i dunno if they are worth to be rescues. any idea guys?

4th gen isn't great nowadays, the CPUs are pretty dated and especially not something I'd want for a content creator, but can they still play most games? Yeah.

I'd recommend 8th/9th gen or 10th gen if you can, since the CPUs have Windows 11 support and you can get more than 4 cores.

Alternatively, you can buy an H610 motherboard and 12100F/12400F pretty cheaply, similar with the Ryzen 5600 and B450/B550.

I'd say this is your best bet if you want to play 1440p medium-high.

From the parts you have, I don't see anything worthwhile saving. Instead, sell it off, recoup some cash.

Honestly too low a budget for new.

The stuff you have now is not worth using or investing in to even the best cpu wont play half those games well at all.

Only real option is looking on the used market for a 6 core 12 thread ryzen used gaming system or similar intel one. Thats the cpu baseline basically.

Echoing this. I have a 4K60 rig that runs very happily on an 8700K, and my wife runs a DQHD screen at 144Hz also on an 8700K.

5950X/4090FE primary rig  |  1920X/1070Ti Unraid for dockers  |  200TB TrueNAS w/ 1:1 backup
