Hello everyone,

I am looking to get a bit driver and I am wondering if the LTT precision screwdriver Is worth it 3x the price of the ifix it one. LTT will come to £35 with tax and delivery while i can get ifixit minnow for £14 on amazon

I have plenty of bits and i don't care about the case.

What do you guys think?

I don't think it's worth the 3x the price - the iFixit kit is enough. The included bit storage is something I don't think I will be using - from a precision standpoint, I find it just as easy to keep it in the bit case and use the bits there. There are about 4-5 common bits I use in my iFixit kit and have them positioned in the kit differently so visually I can see which ones are the common ones. While I could put those in the bit storage compartment of the LTT one, I am not carrying it around by itself without the bit kit so it's not very useful for me.

The quality isn't that much different from my iFixit kit - the only real usability improvement is the magnet is stronger but in a lot of cases I haven't found issues with the iFixit one.

So if you want a stronger magnet - is it worth 3x the price for you? The rest of the "improvements" in terms of fidget spinner and included bit storage don't add much in terms of day-to-day usability for me.

It's not the same "holy shit this screwdriver is so much better" as their full-size screwdriver. Is it a good precision, yes. Is it worth the high cost - depends on your budget - If money is a concern, the iFixit is perfect.

EDIT: The added useable bit length is somewhat beneficial but for a lot of those deep recessed screws but I don't know if there are too many scenarios that is truly a big difference

LTTs screwdriver is a premium tool, if you are going to use it hundreds of times to fix things and make money from it, it makes sense. If you are going to use it weekly, the extra quality is overkill

This doesn't really answer the question.

"This is a premium tool" on it's own means nothing.
Are the differences between the 2 screwdrivers worth 3x the price is the question and someone who has both screwdrivers can easily answer it

Let me quote myself...

That's the best answer you can get, because if a premium tool is worth it or not is a purely subjective experience. Some people think buying a 1500 dollar phone is worth it, I think that's a stupid move and the cost is not worth the benefit. But then I have an LTT screwdrive, and I'm in the UK, so it was expensive. But I use screw drivers often so the quality and cost makes sense for me to spend

The driver itself really is very nice to use. But in your case I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it. The big selling point, I think, are the their bits. They are longer so you can get into deep screw/fastener wells where the iFixit, and similar ones, will bottom out on the hex part that keeps the bit in the driver itself. If the bits don't entice you, just go iFixit in your case.

Tho I will say the LTT driver is a great fidget toy too.

The 2 screwdrivers are nearly identical and you are talking nonsense.

Thanks for the other replies

Sounds like you don't have a precision kit already so I'd say the iFixit will be perfect - regardless of how much you use it. If you end up using the kit enough and want an upgrade in the future, the precision one from LTT will be a nice upgrade but is it necessary, is it worth it out of the gate - probably not.

I have plenty of bits and and old beaten up cheap bit driver

I also have full set of wera and amaoe screwdrivers that I use as a main tool. Just need something to replace my broken bit driver and I was looking to get something better than a generic Chinese one

This is the driver I have - https://www.ifixit.com/products/ifixit-precision-bit-driver-aluminum

Good quality, no complaints at all. Have used for 6+ years I'm pretty sure (forgot when I originally got it but was a while back)
