Budget (including currency): Around 300eur

Country: Latvia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming 1080p on 144hz monitor

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Im ready to buy used parts aswell.

Current setup -

CPU - Ryzen 5 5600

MOBO - Biostar B450MHP

RAM - Kingston 2 X 16GB @ 3200Mhz

GPU - Zotac GTX 1060 6GB

PSU - Be Quiet 400W

Monitor - LG 144hz

Main question here is what should I upgrade to get the max out of my platform. Meaning CPU and RAM I think is good, cause Im not aiming for the AM5 platform just yet, as the 5600 is really enough for me. Now the GPU is where I dont really know how far I should go so im not bottlenecking the 5600. And of course with the GPU upgrade propably comes a PSU upgrade aswell right? Let me know your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

Yeaaah you are gonna need a bigger PSU for a decent gpu unless you splurge on the PSU and get a used gpu cause for 300 without a psu of i'd say at least 500w you are gonna need a bigger one

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

hi, so as @Millios said, id reccomend getting atleast a 500-600w psu with some of your budget, but the rest could go to a gpu like tge rtx 3060 or rtx 2080

I recommend looking at a psu tier list and not cheaping out. Cuz some psu's are known to "explode". And they can damage other pc parts while breaking.

Also consider if this new psu will solely be for your current build, or also for any future am5 build (or whatever else comes out in the future).

Google bottleneck calculator. Use that to give you an idea. But apparently it's not 100% accurate. So you can also look up benchmarks of your favourite games on youtube to get more info, if u want to. Mind you, those might not be 100% accurate either, but probably still helpful info.

At 1080p you'd probably see better performance with an X3D cpu which wouldn't need a PSU upgrade. You can also probably tweak your RAM up to 3600
Otherwise, yeah, I'd say grab a nice PSU before even thinking about a GPU upgrade.

mmmmm, I've found little use with these. They aren't very reliable, especially because some games lean heavily on CPU while others lean on GPU. And half those calculators don't even ask about resolution

Good point. What do you recommend for finding out which gpu to pair with which cpu?

I would say that GPUs fall into resolution tiers while CPUs are kinda whatever you can afford with a focus on cores if you primarily productivity or x3d v cache if you primarily game.
