Never owned one, so I dont know much or where to start.

Gonna use it in a work vehicle, mounted if possible. Anything larger than a standard phone is nice, 8-10" I guess.

Do not want it apple based. Would like to easily connect it to my pc to add movies and shows I already have downloaded.

And if it can run apps like netflix, that would be nice.

Any make/models that you'd recommend? Older models are ok too, incase I find something used on marketplace.

The redmi pad pro 5g.

Why? Its proper snappy, good battery, has ALL THE PORTS (headphone, sd,...) decent software support, from xiaomi so its not impossible to find accesoiries and most importantly cheap. As in 250$ or less.

Oh and the obvious it has google services but NOT to be taken for granted thing in android tablet world

Not oled but well for under 300 you ain getting oled.

i can find used tab s6 for a hair under 200$ and used tab s7 plus are more like 350$ ish since the s7 got downgraded to a crappy lcd

heck if you just want the oled the tab s5e might be an interesting option and those can be quite abit cheaper than the tab s6 whilst still having an oled

and all of the above minus the s5e will completely annihilate the redmi pad in terms of soc since those use high end socs

I think the Lenovo Y700 2024 International version would be best suited, it's an 8.8" tablet with a Qualcomm SD 8 Gen3 proc which is just about the latest and most powerful among tablets. Only snag is, while the International version has been announced, it hasn't been released yet.

I'm using the earlier version, Y700 2022, with a SD 870/8GB RAM/128GB, so it's not as good as the SD 8 Gen 3, it's still a pretty powerful cpu for a tablet. The Y700 2024 below is a Chinese version, but like mine, but with English language support, I like the series because it support mSD support.

The redmi uses a snapdragon 7 gen 2 which is faster than what the s6 and s5e have. The s7 sorta ties with the redmi.

There is also the y700 from lenovo then gamerdude mentioned but availablitly is sparse qnd prices move A LOT. At the 350 its supposed to be its a great deal.

Do keep in mind lenovo ABANDONS every tablet they have the second it releases so expect NO software updates at all.

7s gen 2?

im surprised those lowend socs have already caught up to the 855 but thats a 6 year old flagship soc so not bad but not particularly impressive where the 7+ gen2 is closer to the 8 gen 1 in performance

s5e has quite the joke of an soc though so if theres anything else outside of watching especially for cpu heavy stuff like gaming itll fall flat on its face with that garbage 670

considering the usecase is just watching stuff definitely get an oled, much better colours with much better contrast considering they can do deep blacks and no ips glow nonsense

Google Pixel Tablet if you want pure Android, but at this point mainly if you can get it on sale.

If not that, I'd lean toward a Galaxy Tab S9 or S9 FE. Not the absolute latest, but often on sale and not too large (the S10 series currently starts above 12 inches).

If I were buying a tablet right now I'd get an iPad Air, but I know that's not necessarily the best pick if you're the sort to manually download and transfer videos (outside of official streaming apps, that is).
