Hi All,

Whats the best go to Router? I need to get one for my parents who live remotely (off grind on solar), they will be connecting to satellite internet (either explorinet or starlink). The place is about 2000 sq feet but more range the better. Looking for something with good/great range, i can add access points in the future if needed but looking to avoid that if possible.

Any suggestions? I'm in Canada, budget is sub $300. (cheaper the better of course, budget can be flexible more or less though if needed)

I looked into this recently and found a great resource in my search.

Website called wiisfi.com, specifically I went to this section  https://www.wiisfi.com/#recommendation

I went for model similar to the Asus RT-AX88U Pro, in my case it was an ASUS TUF AX6000 that I imported from Germany, which was $260AUD or about $240 CAD give or take.

I'll mention as someone else may reply stating this, in different parts of the world there's standards for wifi antenna power, I've seen claims that routers from regions with lower power (like Germany) are nerfed, however, I've seen no credible evidence that this is the case, as far as I can tell the physical hardware is identical and there may be firmware or software changes depending on the region you select. Happy to be wrong if anyone else can present evidence of any kind, but I don't believe it exists.

Hope this helps. I had no budget in mind when buying my router, happens to be within your budget, which might make it or something similar a good option for you here.

AVM, hands down.

for example:

absolutely love their software, and the hardware is rock solid, am running mine since, like 2012... still like brandnew basically

edit: also a router doesn't have to be expensive,  this is more akin to mine for example,  although mine is piano black... (and much older obviously)
