Budget (including currency): $1k-1.5k CAD

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (Asseto Corsa, Forza)

Other details : Planning on getting into sim-racing, but I don't want to blow mad cash just yet just in case I end up not really liking it as much as I think I would. Been using a mac for personal and work so let's just say I'm a total noob with pc specs. Going through local fb marketplace, would you say this spec is a good value for the asking price of $1kcad, and how long do you figure it would last?

- Storage: 1TB WD Blue SSD

- Motherboard: AORUS X570 Elite

- PSU: Corsair RM650X 80+ Gold

- Cooler: Corsair 280mm AIO Liquid Cooler

I'd probably pay about $600-700 US for that system, so that would be about $850-950 CAD if Google is to be believed, just about the asking price. I'd try to talk them down a bit, maybe offer $900 CAD, but the asking price is fairly reasonable. Plus the used market value does change depending on where you're located, so take that for what you will (I live in a fairly competitive used market, so the prices I mention are usually on the low end).

It depends on the exact games you play, but the biggest issue will be the GPU. 8GB of VRAM is not really enough in a lot of modern AAA games and can result in some pretty major stuttering when the GPU runs out of VRAM. IIRC racing simulators don't really use anywhere near as much VRAM as something like The Last of Us does, but if you decide to start playing some of the newer games that are VRAM hogs you'll probably want a new GPU. The GPU is the easiest part in the system to upgrade, so if it does become an issue it's pretty easy to swap out, but I might look around a bit to see if you can find a similar system but with a card with more VRAM if you don't want to have to upgrade if you want to play AAA games.
