For many months now I have experienced random static audio pops when gaming (most notable in War thunder and other resource intensive games).

Over the course of a year I have been slowly upgrading areas of my build which has resulted in trying to trace this issue back nearly impossible (CPU: AMD 5 5500, GPU:6800, MOBO:B550, 32gb ram set at 3200 and a gigabyte 650w psu), that and the fact I'm unable to do a process of elimination due to lacking 'spare' parts.

Troubleshooters, drivers etc. have been ran/updated and allot of google searching but there's still no conclusion.

Can anyone give me any tips or pointers as to what it may be?

Thanks.

Where are you getting the static pops. With headphones exclusively or with speakers as well?

This is a simple test you can do.  If you don't have speakers it can prove whether it is an OS problem or a hardware problem.  Monitor speakers will be going through HDMI and bypassing the onboard audio entirely, but it's a start.

I really couldn't guess with any degree of certainty.  I have experienced poor quality PSU causing latent audio problems to be exacerbated but this was a ground loop issue which can easily be attributed to the PSU.

What headphones or rather audio output equipment do you use?  Do you have something else that connects similarly to test with?

Audio go Brrrrrr
