I can't seem to find much information about this setting. Does anybody what the router setting does when creating a network? It gives me the following options:

 

UDM SE

Third Party Gateway

Switch (my POE switch)

 

I am going to connect my NAS/server and JBOD systems to this virtual network. They are the only two devices that need to communication on this network. I have other firewall rules to allow access for my other devices for remote login. I'm curious what this feature does.

The Router option is basically if you're using a third party router to define your network rules. It essentially lets you just create VLAN's for all your UniFi devices through the controller so theyre provisioned to accept VLAN's being routed to them by a non UniFi device. 

 

For your setup just leave it on your UDM.

Thanks for the response. It's confusing to me that they let me choose my switch because I don't think I can apply rules directly on it.
