Hello, going to keep this short and sweet.

My computer has suddenly begun black screening when loading up any game. The monitor would go black and does not detect any video output from my computer. I'm forced to restart the computer to have any sort of display, restarting the driver via Win + Ctrl + Shift + B is futile.

Additional context:

  • No noticeable symptoms have existed prior such as artifcating, crashes, etc
  • No modifications have been made to the PCs components
  • I've just updated the GPU driver and the issue still persists

Any advice on identifying the issue would be greatly appreciated!!

PC Specs:

  • I9-9900k
  • RTX 3080TI
  • 32GB Ram
  • Corsair SF 750W PSU
  • Windows 10 64 bit

whats the board it has. also was the machine working fine previously?

Asus Rog Strix Z390-I

Been gaming constantly with the same specs for a few years, no issues till yesterday/today

Edit: The GPU's fans seem to spin/function perfectly fine when booting up a game - just get a black screen though and forced to restart

Bad VRAM likely. When it black screens, is the computer still running in the background, but the display is black?

Confirming the computer is still running in the background after the black screen:

  • Music still plays in the background
  • I can alt+tab and pause the music

Is there anyway to test if it's a vram related issue?

I was hoping it's just a faulty pcie cable

Edit: Below is a screenshot of the GPU's metrics right before crashing
