I just want to know if someone can tell me if they know if there is a way to change the Quality of the music you download because i worked it out and it is about 9MB per song and i would really like it if it was less?

was just wondering if anybody knew if this was possible because you can lower the quality while streaming but can you do the same with the downloaded or Keep on device content ?

Why would you want to decrease the quality of the music files? Google Play Music uses 320 kbit/s MP3 files which are ideal for MP3s... A 3.5 minute song @ 320 kbps will only be 8.4MB and sure it might be 3.36MB at 128 kbps but 320 kbps sounds way better especially as volume increases... Storage is cheap, why are you concerned about a couple megabytes?

If you go into your settings Google Play music will ask what quality music it is downloading and you can just lower that.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

hmm does not look like i can change the downloaded quality only the steaming. and the reason i wanted to lower it is because i don't mind the bit rate of like 256 because i cant expand the storage on my LG g2 ( only has 24GB ) and with 60fps FHD video recording that's not allot :P
