i have a light for cpu and ram on the motherboard after following these steps, im guessing i just wait?

Generally these lights together indicate a serious issue communicating with the CPU, RAM or both. Do the basics like reseating the RAM, trying one stick at a time in each slot then reseating the CPU.

If you have flashback as an option, you can also run it again.

the flash indicator has just stopped flashing but i have no display

When the LED stops flashing it is generally when you know the flash is complete. Power the system off with the PSU, take out the USB drive, power it back on and attempt to boot.

My understanding is thats what you were doing when when this thread started, no? You said you were using the flash button.

Great ! Sometimes when flashing a BIOS there are errors. But with modern motherboards, you can often correct those by using another USB stick or simply re-flash like you did.

Happy computing !

I've never personally had it happen but yeah, sometimes things go wrong and a re-flash will do the trick. Glad it worked out!

Couldn't you update the BIOS in BIOS instead of blind-pray the gods-Flashback?

Would have saved you some sweat...

Updating via the BIOS via the BIOS (for supported boards) can go wrong the same as with flashback.

In my experience, more often (and I update a lot of BIOSes). I only use flashback when available. Just more direct, no faffing around with POSTing and UI's. Insert USB, press button.
