"min/max" upgrade path suggestion

Just wondering what the best low budget high performance gain parts I could change in my current build to get a significant boost in performance. Or what I could look to replace first whilst still using the rest of my current parts to then add to at a later date.

 

I mainly game, open world RPG's, RTS' and some FPS games

 

Current parts list:

 

CPU: Intel i7-9700K

GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 (none super)

MOBI: Gigabyte Z390 aorus pro 

RAM: 32GB DDR4 

STORAGE: Multiple 1tb nvme + SSD drives + 2tb HDD just for storage 

PSU: Seasonic 650w 80+ Gold

MONITOR: LG GL850 

 

Not got a set budget but looking at 'bang for the buck' so not after going after the latest high end components, and as I said, am willing to stagger the upgrade.

 

Also I am UK based if that helps / matters

A budget would give us at least an idea of what to look for.  Are we talking £300 or £800?

I could probably look to spend around £200/250 each step of the upgrade and do an upgrade say every 8 weeks. Obviously I could wait longer between steps to save more to get a more substantial part at some points or push the budget a little at some points if some components just can't be achieved at that price point. I would be happy to try and explore the used market too although it's not great in my area so would rely on things such as eBay which I'm not 100% confident in but it's an option as a way to reduce costs.

is there any part of this system that feels lacking? or are you just upgrading because you have money burning a hole in your pocket?

Your situation isn't easy.

 

You are on platform with fastest CPU in the Motherboard, with an upgradeable GPU path considering if the PSU has good enough quality and power to power a better one.

 

But half of your games want more CPU power, but that would require entire platform upgrade...

 

 

If you do have bad performance or whatever performance hits, what are they? Is it games having to run at lower graphics settings? Or something else?
