Additional SSD hanging. Freezing, etc.

So I have an extra m.2 ssd put into an external usb-c enclosure, and it would freeze my pc if I opened files and when it would finally load stats this is all I could see:

It doesn't open, I cannot use another PC to access it, and it doesn't boot into anything on a seperate PC with it as the only drive. 

 

This came from my brothers old computer, so I am sure it has windows on it, but in practice putting his new m.2 into the enclosure would allow me to browse the files from this computer I am on right now.

 

EDIT: crystal disk doesn't even open when the external ssd is plugged in.

Did you try both with the drive in the enclosure and directly installed in a machine? If it works in a machine but not the enclosure then the enclosure is faulty, if it never works the drive's dead.

Yes I tried it in other PCs as well, installed in different slots and with the enclosures. When installed in my laptops other m.2, the machine doesn't even boot into windows it just sits on the logo screen.

 It might be a bad block or something else that's causing problems, try a diagnostic tool like CrystalDiskInfo (Windows)
