Need help for a rack mounted PC

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Homelab, including LLM work and games

Other details my current home lab is getting to it’s limit with what I want to do with it. I’m running around a dozen vms, including a firewall and a bigger windows machine that I’m using for LLM work and as my own cloud gaming server. 64gb of ram is at it’s limit currently.

 

After finishing up the cables in my home, I want to move as much as I can into a rack. However, that’s a new adventure for me, so I’m pretty clueless when it comes to rack mounted systems.

 

I want to run a GPU in it but also it should be as small as possible. I found this 3u rack: Sliger CX3171a (https://www.sliger.com/products/rackmount/3u/cx3171a/). Are there other, maybe better options out there?

 

A second pain point for me is the motherboard/CPU combination. I’d like to have enough PCIe lanes to run a GPU, 2 x NVMe and 2 x 10GB ethernet as well as support at kraft 128GB of ram. I’m also using it as a „cloud gaming“ host. I currently run a 3060 ti but planning of upgrading it to a 4080 super.
