For a lazy mode comparison.

Look at TPU's GPU database and they have a graph next to the card which tells you how it performs relative to other cards:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-7700-xt.c3911

For CPU, try this:

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleCompare.php

The single thread score is most closely linked to the gaming performance (note: the X3D CPUs perform better than their score suggests).

The CPU Mark is a more general score.

Once you have an idea what you want, I would recommend that you watch a few videos from big channels like hardware unboxed, just to give you some context, e.g.:

.

So i dont know if this is the right place to ask but im just gonna try.

Ive been having severe problems with my old and outdated pc and ive been thinking about getting a new one.

But i dont know where or what to buy cause ive never bought anything this immense.

I need a pc who can run a few AAA titles but also some paper work.

my budget is not that high but im willing to spend a little for a good pc.

so if anyone could help me i would really appreciate it.

What resolution do you plan to play at?

Do you need a monitor and mouse/keyboard?

Do you have anything that can be re-used from the old PC?

Can you give us a ballpark? 500$? 1000$? 1500$?

and i dont think that i can re-use anything because ive had this pc for almost 6 or 7 years now and ive never upgraded or updated anything at all just the regular windows updates.

and im willing to spend over 1k but not over 2k

Something like this would be fine for 1080p and mostly fine for 1440p.

- CPU: Ideally, you would look at an AM5 build with a 7500F or 7600, so that you have a better upgrade path than the below.

- GPU: For 1440p, a 4070 non-Super, 7800 XT or better would be nice, though the 7700 XT can manage it fine in most games.

because i had looked at this pc: Gaming PC Ryzen 5 5600X - RTX 4060 Ti

would you recommend it?

5600X is fine, it just depends on the price. The 5800X happens to be on offer right now, which is why I included it.

4060 Ti is slower than the 7700 XT above. The 8GB version is not too bad, but that 8GB is going to be a problem in the longer-term, especially if you plan to play at 1440p. It is also barely faster than the 3060 Ti, which is one of the reasons the reviews were so bad.

4060 Ti 16GB is a better card for the future, but the performance is not much better and the price is usually far too high.

For a lazy mode comparison.

Look at TPU's GPU database and they have a graph next to the card which tells you how it performs relative to other cards:

For CPU, try this:

The single thread score is most closely linked to the gaming performance (note: the X3D CPUs perform better than their score suggests).

The CPU Mark is a more general score.

Once you have an idea what you want, I would recommend that you watch a few videos from big channels like hardware unboxed, just to give you some context, e.g.:
