Unless your home experiences frequent power outages or there's a thunderstorm in the area, it's really not that risky. Watch the YouTube instructions at the top of their page, it's not that complicated either: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B350M-MORTAR/support

Try re-seating the CPU, check if all of its pins are straight and making proper contact. If that's not the issue either, my guess would be a defective memory channel. It works well enough for Windows to be able to detect the stick, but isn't actually usable.

Hey. I stumbled into a weird problem which trying troubleshooting my friend PC. I've tried multiple ram stick and most of it don't work. The pc just beep 3 times. And keep restarting it self. The pair or ram that is working is showing a bizarre problem on it self. It's only showing half of the total ram capacity

I've tried with 16x2 DDR4 From corsair

And 8x2 DDR4 From XPG. and both only showing half of the supposed ram capacity.

When I install it on other machine  it's showing 32gb and 16gb respectively. I don't know what happened  is it motherboard or cpu problem

Either one could be the cause.

If you have a known good CPU that is compatible with the board, you could try swapping it out, see if the problem still happens on that motherboard.

Damn. I'm hoping I don't need other cpu or motherboard to test it. I was hopping it's bios of config problem.

If you see full capacity in the BIOS but not in Windows, you could try msconfig, it can be used to limit available RAM.

But from your screenshot the BIOS only shows the capacity of a single stick. Since the RAM works fine in another PC that basically only leaves the board or CPU's memory controller as the culprit.

Do it get it correctly, its only shows half in windows? Because your screenshot clearly shows 32gb ram. You didn't install the ram correctly though. Move the ram to slot A2 and B2 (Dimm2 and 4)

The bios show the 2 16gb stick. But the total only showing 16gb

On windows it's showing 32 but only 16gb usable and 16 other is hardware reserved.

Ms config recognized the ram as 32gb in total

It's show 16gb in total on bios.

32 on taskmanager but 16 usable and 16 in hardware reserved

Ms Config recognize it as 32gb .

The IGP is on 64mb

And I've also swap it to the a2 and b2. Still the same

Arh I see. Did you try after clearing CMOS and or updating BIOS? Your bios is OLD.

i've tried clear the cmos. taking out the battery and still no Difference.
have'nt tried updating the bios. that's kinda the last thing i want to do, due to risk of bricking it.

I agree with eigenvektor. I would update to 7A37v1O6 before updating further. Also when flashing bios wait until the PC is showing the splash screen. DO NOT CUT POWER before the update has finished.

Okay i've updated the Bios. and the Compatiblity problem is fixed. now other ram stick is working. but the problem with the missmatch capacity still presist. i'll try to look around in the new bios setting. maybe using the default config. fix thing.....
