TT Core P8 riser cable issue (vertical GPU install)

Go to solution Solved by For Science!,

Check whether the PCIe slot lines up with the brackets of the case, if it does, then leave it, if it doesn't then use standoffs.

Hi guys.

I installed riser cable onto this metal bar like it is wrote in manual I tighten the screws not all the way but as you can ser the holder is not 90 degrees vertical onto metal bar (there is slight offset).

I tried 2 both different screws same issue.

I think that holes on riser cable don't mach with holes on this metal piece which should hold riser cable, and that is why.

Dunno what else to do?

Should I leave it like this?

On video from link below it is 90 degrees vertical and he tighten screws all the way, I did not cuz I coulc brake PCB.

I have second same riser cable, should I try it?

Here is a video from 16:00 how should look like:

Did not try.I think that is a risk of bending the PCB.

The way I see it :

The screw is straight

The PCB is slanted, most likely due to the excess space in the screw hole on the PCB, which is normal. Because too tight of a hole might make the screw bite into the hole's edges.

Tightening it up usually straightens it, or you know, straighten the PCB using hand then tighten the screw.

My thought is that applying more torque could damage the PCB,since as you see it is tightening narrow.

I will try to do a video.

You think I should tighten it more (all the way)?

I am not sure what kind of screw to put on?

On the manual is not explained.

The type of screw with large head, usually for installing PSU?

I think actually that holes do not match.

Hole from PCB to hole on metal piece, there is slight offset.

Will try to picture it, and think that is the culprit.

How do you guys suggest me to install PCB of riser cable onto this metal bar?

If I tighten one screw pretty good, it is impossible to match holes for second screw.

Should I use screws from pic 1 or 2?

So I alligned the metal piece with riser cable, dunno if you can see, the holes on right part do not match.

Okay, so I tighten the screws from second pic all the way and got this (pic below).

May I leave it like this?

I think needs to be straight because of a pci-e slots/brackets on chasis.

I had a similar problem with my EZDIY-FAB vertical mount. I had to partially screw in one, then the other, and then tighten them up. Not perfect, but it worked. It was also not exactly right for mounting my GC, but I made it work. They had kind of lied to me and said it was compatible with my GC. Just be careful not to damage the PCB.

It isn't going to fit perfectly, but it'll work.

As for which screws, it depends on which actually match both sets of holes.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

So what do u suggest me to do in my case?

Hmm what pci-e slot, from motherboard or from riser cable?

What did you told me?

I screwed both screws tightening them periodically until full torque and got that on pics.

I don't seea reason why you are associating this with your case of smth different.

Sorry bro, please be more precise on what should I do?

Hmm ofc it wont be 90 degrees vertical with pci brackets since plastic slot has offset (on pics).

Where to use standoffs, under 2 screws I tighten?

Sorry, I think the language difference is making this difficult. Your description shows that you did what I suggested. What are you asking for advice about now?

yes, on the assumption that the components line up after installing the standoffs. Regardless, most of the heavy lifting of the gpu will be done by the I/O bracket and not the riser cable, so I personally wouldn't fuss over it too much.

I don't think, since it's design fault, simply holes do not match.

If I could only understand you.

Could you explain me in detail how to align  this plastic thing" with metal piece using standoffs?

If I leave it as it is, the graphics cad will install into the.slot at the angle  which means I will have issue tightening it to the pci-e brackets.

I am so tired, I can not think.

Let me know if I understood you correctly.

So install standoffs onto this metal piece to holes on it and then tighten riser cable to it, via screws?

No, i don't think I'll be able to simplify it any further. I recommend you get professional help.

I will try if I understood you correctly tomorrow since it is evening here and post pics.

You probably want me to use 2 standoffs  tighten them via holes to this metal piece and then try to torque riser cable with screws to this metal piece.
