CPU upgrade worth it?

Go to solution Solved by darwinsantithesis,

Assuming this is a laptop and not a mini PC, no. The 13700H consumes a TON of power, is much less efficient, and has at least several reports of instability and/or degradation. I'd suggest going Ryzen and adding more RAM to your system, maybe.

Do you think it's worth paying an extra 100 euros for an i7-13700H compared to a Ryzen 7 7735HS?

In a mobile device, you aren't really getting a full CPU upgrade the same way you would on a desktop. The 13700HS is a power hog, and if it's not properly cooled, you won't exactly get your money's worth.

Which laptop models are you comparing? If they are not very thick, that i7 might be a little hot under the hood.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

That and that i7 will last way shorter on a same capacity battery than the amd as its just a power hog. Hell even laptops that solely cool that i7 with a what would normally be considered ok cooler can do it properly
