So my friend had a GTX 1050ti and an i3 9100f. We are playing Fortnite and he had around 120 FPS with competitive settings on 1080p. A couple of days ago he got a used RTX 3060ti and he downloaded all of the drivers and everything but his FPS didn't change. What could be the problem? He thinks of buying a new CPU and he wants to get a i7 8700 so it lowers the "bottleneck" so tell me the thoughts of that as well. HELP!

Hi buddy,

I suspect the relatively puny 9100f is the issue here. It just can't process any more frames and help leverage the additional performance offered by the 3060ti.

I think the i3 9100f works on Intel 300 chipset boards so you should be fine popping in an 8700. I still game on an 8700 although it is a K model and OC'd but its a great workhorse and done me proud.

What Mobo do you have? If its a Z series, maybe try and find an 8700k or an 8086k and OC it to get a bit more performance.

You answered your own question, about getting a new cpu to lower the bottleneck.

That CPU just can't cut it.
