The audio on my computer just died. Nothing changed. Nothing updated. Nothing plugged in or out. I didn't even turn the computer off. I was playing a game a couple hours ago and it worked fine.I closed the game and the launcher and left for a while. I came back and started up a YouTube video while starting up my game and nothing. It's a fully AMD system. Ryzen 3000, b450, rx 5700 xt. I run my audio through a LG speaker system connected to the audio OUT of the MOBO. I connect my headphones to an audio control output that splits out of the speaker system. I tried reinstalling audio drivers, Nothing. Tried running audio through my speakers to see if my headphones died, Nothing. I disconnected everything and plugged my headphones directly into the jack in the front IO of the case, Nothing. Updated windows, nothing. Ran windows audio troubleshooter, nothing. I cut the pc power and cycled the power button to completely remove power and restarted and nothing. From every detected source the audio is outputting, but it's not. I have my doubts someone will be able to help me with this one especially without getting their hands on the system itself but any advice is appreciated.

Some simple things that might have gotten overlooked:

Is your computer muted?

Is the program playing audio muted?

Is the volume high enough to hear?

Are you selecting the right audio output when testing different devices?

If all of those are fine, I think the answer is your motherboard's audio hardware stopped working. Try getting audio out of an HDMI port, USB audio device, or bluetooth, and if any of those work I'd say it's all but guaranteed.

If that's the case there are plenty of USB audio devices out there to replace your motherboard's audio. Apple's USB C audio dongle with a USB C to A adapter (or just straight if your computer has USB C ports) is an easy solution to recommend.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
