Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media

testcy

Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon is turned on, but occasionally is not shown when a USB memory stick or external hard disk is connected. As a workaround I created a shortcut to manually run it, but is there a permanent solution?

Is it hidden behind the "show hidden icons" carat button, or does it fail to appear entirely?

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Always with the same device, or with different devices?

I don't use many different devices, but I think not always with the same.

It could be that you have Quick Removal enabled, so Windows doesn't need you to 'safely eject' before yanking the drive (as long as you're not writing to it at the time).

Make sure you have your chipset and/or USB controller drivers updated. (Couldn't hurt!)

Actually, quick removal is enabled and the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon only occasionally is not shown. Would it make a difference if better performance is enabled instead? Also, is there a way the icon to always appear even when nothing is connected?
