First PC build

Budget (including currency): 700-900€

Country: France

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly music production and content creation (recording and editing video). Occasional 3D modeling/rendering and gaming (minecraft, sea of thieves...)

I will use 2 monitors, right now I only have one (1080) with my current laptop.

As of right now, this is what I'm planning to get this:

https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/bLQZh3

Can this be improved?

I'm worried the GPU might be a bit too overkill.

I'm also wondering if I should double the RAM? I often record multiple sources on OBS and I've heard that RAM is important for music production softwares.

Help much appreciated!

im not so professional at it but i think you picked everything best possible for your money on that build, and about ram, i think 32gb should be enough if you dont do huge projects

Isn't this an unbalanced CPU/GPU combo, or will blender run better with the 5800x? I thought it will run better on a rx 6800

If you can buy a used GPU, you can get an AM5 build, which will be slightly worse for blender because of less CPU cores (6 vs 8), but then you have a great upgrade path, and a way better GPU

Thank you! Interesting alternative!

I forgot to mention but I'm not doing big blender renders and or scenes, mainly pretty low poly stuff.

That's why I was wondering if the GPU would be too beefy for my needs, would a better GPU help for recording and editing? or is it only for games and blender?

Sorry if I'm asking obvious stuff, I'm very much a novice to this.

well, rx 6800 is one of best performance/price gpus out there its on level with 3080 but nvidia generally has a better encoder than amd, tho i dont think the difference will be  seen on streams

(may be a bad advice but you can wait till intel battlemage gpus come out and they will have one of (if not) the best encoders for av1 and h.264/265, also they should be pretty budget friendly)

Seriously recommending intel 14th gen? Sure it's not a beefy i7/9, but still

Yeah, literally all the i7 and i9s have been failing recently, with the lower end chips not so much, but still at risk

The fix is out is it not? 14500 is quite a bit faster than 5800x. Multi-core +30%

I thought it's not out yet, but we don't even know if it will fix the problem. Even if the CPUs were working fine, i don't understand why would u buy intel, when AM5 exists

7700 and 32GB of ddr5 is way out of budget. And 7700 is also behind 14500 in multi-core benchmarks.

7700 is, but not rlly the ram, if OP needs those extra cores so badly, then imo AM4 is still a better option with the used market

well your build looks great, but as @Jeppes said, it is out of my budget. I'm still reluctant to buy an intel cpu tho. Would there be a good inbetween option?

It's not our of your budget if you buy the 6800 used, if you don't want to do that, then you can get build like your first one, but with a 5700x, and a 6700xt

Just get a 12600kf or 12700kf if you are paranoid about the issues on 13000 and 14000 series. 5800x is quite a bit slower on single core than those and even 12600kf beats it in multi-core too.
