Cooler Recommendation

Go to solution Solved by lol1419,

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, thanks for the help everyone. I measured my case and found enough room for a Hyper 212 Evo. I think at this time it would be my best bet with reasonable performance at a low price point. Once again thanks for everyone's help.

Hello and Greetings from Canada,

So I was planning to get a new CPU cooler as I want to move away from my old and loud stock cooler. However with only 3 fans ( PSU, CPU, and a 92mm rear exhaust) it's hard to think of a cooler that would be tailored to my case. I only have limited ventilation and no intakes requiring passive airflow from the front of my case. I want an all purpose CPU cooler and I don't plan to do any heavy overclocking except maybe only from Intel Turbo Boost. Any recommendations for a CPU cooler (air or liquid cooled) with a case that has limited air flow?

Please note that upgrading my case is not an option at this point in time, as a lack of funds would prevent me from doing so. In addition please keep in mind that I do not have a huge budget and the cheapest value to performance cooler would be best for me.

That's not even liquid cooled, this is the liquid cooling forum.

He's only got a 92mm exhaust?

Your point is? This is the liquid cooling forum, what part of "liquid cooling " do you not understand. To add with it he made the same post in two different forums.

I'm going to recommend the best solution I can based on the question, I'm not going to recommend an overkill solution just because it's in that forum.

The actual question, I should remind you was:

". Any recommendations for a CPU cooler (air or liquid cooled) with a case that has limited air flow?"

Which in this forum you would have to recommend something that is liquid cooled. I can't see why you still fail to comprehend that this is the liquid cooled forum. An appropriate answer for this thread would be to say " There are no liquid cooling solutions for your set up. " I never even said overkill, you're just making stuff up. There are no solutions that are possible for liquid cooling and that's what should have been stated. You didn't even post an air cooled solution in the " Air Cooling " forum.

Well there are products available in a all in one liquid cooler, or a aftermarket air cooler but they all need some form of case air flow. What type of case do you have.?.. how good are you with a drill..?

Your best effort is the easiest thing to give to someone else..

I went ahead and reported your post.  This is a casual forum meant to help people.  If a moderator feels a thread should be moved, then he or she will move it.  Regardless of the forum, he asked a question for air or liquid and we should help him with the best solution regardless of the sub forum.

To the OP, not knowing your towers dimensions, the one the OP linked will work with virtually any case and works very efficiently.  I'd recommend if you can to add an intake fan if possible.

greetings,

your question is too vague to give an accurate answer.

rig specification always helps, please list your build specs.

case and CPU especially..

Honestly, I believe you should be looking at a case upgrade before anything else. The coolers inside of a case can't do much if they aren't getting enough circulation. Having a single 92mm exhaust fan is not good enough for an overclocked PC. Most of this depends on what sort of spec you're running though. I'll do what I can to give you some good recommendations if you provide me with a list of specs.

Corsair 900D | MSI MPower Max Z87 AC | i7-4790K @ 4.7Ghz | 1080 Ti SLI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400
XSPC Raystorm | EK-FC Nickel GPU block/backplate | 2x Alphacool UT60 480mm & XT45 240mm | 11x Linus Edition NF-F12
Schiit Modi/Magni 2 Uber | 5" KRK Rokit G3 | KRK 10S2 | Acer Predator X34 | Dell S2716DG

Hello again, and thank you everyone for your input. Just to end the dispute of air cooling vs liquid cooling. Cool down. All I need are answers to my question which was clearly stated:

"Any recommendations for a CPU cooler (air or liquid cooled) with a case that has limited air flow?"

As reading input from various users I can now conclude that there is no liquid cooling option what would fit a 92mm rear exsaust fan. As noted earlier, I do have a post on the Air Cooling form with the same question. Hopefully there will be more answers there. In addition is there any way I can post my computers speck's on my profile or does this have to be done directly within the form?

Thank you

I was just happy for the opportunity to finish an argument with 'good day', this forum kicks ass.

Take a look at my first post, I gave a couple low profile noctua solutions which should do quite nicely.

Some other people on the other form posted that I should try the Hyper 212; which was the original cooler I was looking at. But this low profile noctua cooler should preform better. It should be a better fit too, right?

The Noctua might not yield the same performance, but given that you're not overclocking, you don't really huge performance. the noctua will be better than stock and it will be nice and quiet.

Big thing is, the evo 212 is a tall cooler and may not fit.  But the noctua one if their rep for their big coolers is warranted, should work fine!
