PC shutting down randomly

I put my old PSU in which was a Corsair 600W and it still shutdown. My actual PSU is a Corsair RM1000e which is more than enough to handle everything and it's only about a year old. BIOS and chipset are both updated. But if it was an issue with the RAM or PSU wouldn't it happen all the time, not just randomly? Been playing most of today and it hasn't happened at all.

RAM especially is definitely not something that happens all the time, its a very random thing actually, even though it often can happen when doing the same or similar tasks (like opening a program,  watching a video, etc)

If you have more than 2 sticks try with 2 sticks only in *dual channel*. if you have just 2 sticks try with only one - also try all slots to be sure.

Edit: also don't use XMP or any other kind of over or underclocking until this issue is resolved

As per my title my PC is shutting down randomly. There is no blue screen or anything really in the logs saying what is causing it and it is definitely not overheating. My specs are as follows MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi, 32GB G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO, AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB, 1000W PSU (can't remember the model but it is only about a year old). I also have two monitors, one is an AOC 27G2WG3 27" and the other is an AOC Q27G4N 27" both on display port. I have checked hard drives for any errors and things like that but I am stuck on what is happening, if anyone can give me any ideas that would be much appreciated.

CAn you isolate ANY circumstance that shows a pattern?  I had similar, and it was only in 1 game that I had the issue.  No other game nor benchmark.

My GPU was broken and tripping my PSU protections.  usually when there is no BSOD or error message, it's can be the PSU shutdown directly  (hardware, not software issue).

I thought it was only happening with MW3 but I was just playing WoW and it shut down before I made this post. It only seems to happen when I'm playing though, like I can be watching movies and it will be fine. This might be a dumb question but would running my monitors at different resolutions cause this aswell? because I was running one at 1440p and the other at 1080p. What would be the best way to test if my GPU is dying (I hope not because it's still new).

Try another GPU.

Monitor resolution may lessen a load that causes this but the resolutions themsekves dont cause these problems.

If it's new, call thech support and see if they can help troubleshoot.   May have to RMA, possibly.  If they can't pinpoint anything else.

I'll see if I can get my hands on another GPU and test it. I figured the resolutions wouldn't really matter but I'll have them both at 1080p and same refresh rate just to see if it happens. Thank you very much for your help, I just hope nothing is actually dying as money is tight these days.

which cpu youu have -  if you have igpu you can test with it. (performance can be bad but for test after all. Can you check temps as well?

how its goin mate ? hope my post helps. Maybe drop a like or follow ? >w<

no ? i guessed that 😄

Sorry forgot to list the CPU, AMD Ryzen 7 7700X. It is hard to test because it happens very randomly, like it will shutdown once, and I will just go back to playing and it won't happen again until the next day or two. As for temps my GPU stays at around 60degrees and my CPU gets around 70.

Temps seems fine.

Can you detail about "shutdown". Does it turn off the entire pc and turn off all fans/lights then stays like that ? or after everything turns off it turns of by it self ? Or black screen then it acts like you rebooted pc (fans/lights never stop)

here is a list to try then.

Disable xmp and try.

Try with only one ram stick at a time with disabled xmp.

Dont know if your gpu can fit but try second pci express slot.

Other than that to test you prbobly gonna need spare parts to try which you probobly dont. If you have afriend with competible parts you ask for a favor 😉

If you dont want to deal with it you can ask for a avarage price for local repair shop as well.

Check if you have any WHEA events. WHEA events will show errors from hardware. Open Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs → System. On the right hand side click Filter Current Log. In the Event Sources dropdown menu select "WHEA-logger". If you have any WHEA events, highlight them, right click and save. Share the file here. If you have a ton, do 4-5 of the latest ones.

So I tried using my old GPU and old PSU and everything seemed fine but it shut down again, it hadn't done it since yesterday morning and I've been playing for around 3-4 hours, temps are still fine and still have no error code or anything that points me to a cause. Also had xmp off and one ram stick so I am at a loss, if it happened frequently then I'd not be as annoyed but the fact it just does it at random times just confuses the crap out of me. Might just have to bite the bullet and take it to a local tech repair shop.

Ok so I've been doing a lot of testing and it seems it's more of a GPU issue, it keeps spiking from around 40% utilization to 100% constantly and when it hits 100% everything lags out and that's when my PC shutsdown. The only things I have open are my game and movies or shows playing on my second monitor but even when I close everything on my second monitor it still spikes and lags. So far it hasn't shutdown today but I've only been playing for about an hour. I would have thought my GPU would be more than enough to handle everything seeing as that it's quite new. Would it be worth getting a 20GB+ card instead?
