So this happened for the second time. I realise my PSU is a little old, but am not sure if it is the cause. I had this PSU for nearly 10 years, it's a 530 watt bronze Raidmax rx-530ss, I run a i5 4590 and gtx 960 4gb. This never used to happen, also it only happened while I was playing a game. Once while playing War Thunder and now recently with Minecraft, the pc just shuts off but shortly after turns on again, as if restarting. It also doesn't happen very frequently, I can play for hours and be fine but a few days later it happens only once.

Should I get a new Power Supply Unit? I read somewhere that PSU's gradually lose voltage over the years, is it no longer giving anough voltage by a bare amount and when the psu pulls more power when gaming, it shuts down?

PSU no longer being able to supply the required wattage is certainly a possibility. Have you checked Windows Event Log? It might contain more information that points in one direction or another.

Random reboot while gaming

Sounds like something is unstable

Are you monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures?

Stress test your memory, CPU and GPU

This is not a symptom of a failing PSU

CPU and GPU temps are stable. At 50 and 60 respectively at max load. I also repasted my gpu a few months ago, and idle cpu temps are 25-30 'C

So that raidmax is a about 2006 psu. It was not good back then as it used lesser components compared to other budget offerings and I've seen these come in oevr the years. Seen these blue led unstable things many times and it is most likely the cause of your issues as they struggled to power a gtx 660 + i5 back in the day.

So should I get a non-LED PSU with good reviews?

You should get a psu from the psu tier list that is at least a c tier.

Anything A to C will do.

Take like a 650w unit that you can carry forward if you ever upgrade barely a price difference in the 50-60$ bracket for those. Msi has some popular and cheap msi a(xxx)b series
