Hi

my friend just bought an am4 rig and while building it he found out that the mobo backplate (that is used to mount the cooler) isn't there so can he just use the screws that come with the Intel back plate (he won't use the whole thing, he'll just get the screws out of it and put it in the holes) so will that damage the pc?

its either not gonna have enough pressure or damage the motherboards or maybe why not both?

there's like a very small chance it'll work but i wouldn't recommend it at all, i don't even think its safe, let alone won't damage components.

The backplate is designed to equally distribute pressure, and CPU coolers are designed to have a very high pressure on the CPU to ensure proper mounting contact.

Four screws with nuts on the other side will concentrate too much pressure on those four spots instead of over the back of the CPU socket.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

like this with no mounting so basically just using gravity and i assume you have a case so it wont be the bare board

temps wont be as good as with proper mounting but itll suffice till the mounting arrives
